Elaine McNish has worked in the health, sport and fitness field for over 25 years. During this time she has been employed in Local Authority Leisure Services, Public Health Departments, a National Governing Body of sport, the Sports Council for Wales, and until July 2011, as the lead policy officer for Physical Activity and Health in the Welsh Government.

She is also a board member for Welsh Gymnastics where she leads on development and has recently written the National Development Plan for the Governing Body.

Elaine has a wide range of skills and experience of policy and strategy development, alongside project development and management.

Current Associate Work

Elaine is currently providing a specialist business support service as part of Just Solutions contract with the University of Glamorgan. This is creating a wider portfolio in Health and Exercise Sciences.

The end result will see a range of specialisms brought together under a Centre of Excellence for Physical Activity, Exercise Sciences and Health including Exercise Referral; Physical Activity training; Exercise Awarding Body Status and a unique partnership with Fitness Wales; Sports Nutrition etc.

The approach will build on the University's innovative health service business models and apply the same approach to expand health and exercise services, attracting prospective students and providing a good platform for enhancing academic learning.
